MWMC This Week – June 16, 2024

 June 16, 2024Let’s Revitalize, Milliken!

13 This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. -1 John 4:13-16

Please make sure you pass final information of any announcements (including any changes to ongoing meets, i.e. suspension of a meeting or adding a meeting time) to Pastors Aza or Eddie by Wednesdays at 9pm. Otherwise, the announcements will not be made on the Sunday but the following Sunday.

Today is Father’s Day – June 16th

Welcome to our annual Father’s Day BBQ. We appreciate fathers and father figures. June 16 is Father’s Day, which means it’s time for our Father’s Day BBQ! This  is one of our biggest events for the year and so we invite you to join us for our Sunday morning worship service, and then plan to stay with us for the BBQ.

Thursday Bible Study

Bible Study is also on Thursday mornings at 10:30 am.  There are only 1 week left until this study concludes for the summer on Thursday, June 20.  Join us as we finish up our study on the Book of PHILIPPIANS.

CHINESE ENGLISH CORNER

Dr. Joan Chung is our Chinese Language teacher teaching us Mandarin.  If you are interested and would like to join, please reach out to Pastor Aza or Bro. Chris and we will get you connected with our Zoom Link.

Ministry at Willowdale Welcome Centre

We have been afforded the opportunity to minister through worship and the Word at Willowdale Welcome Centre Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.  If you are available and would like to serve in this capacity, please contact Pastor Eddie or Pastor Aza for more information.

Best Years Fellowship Outing

The always in-demand Best Years Fellowship has returned! “A Summer Day Away in Port Dover” is going to take place on Tuesday, June 25. The tour will depart at 8:45 am and return around 6:00 pm. The all-inclusive cost is $147 per person. It will include a morning river cruise, a lunch at the Erie Beach Hotel, and a walk in Port Dover. Seats are limited, and it will be first-paid-first-served. For reservations and information, please touch base with sister Satie Pokhai.

TASTE OF ASIA 2024

Taste of Asia  will be happening on Kennedy Road from June 28-30. This year, we will be present at Taste of Asia to actively demonstrate our vision by “Growing Outward”, sharing God’s light and love to our community.  We will have a booth at the event and we are inviting anyone who is  willing to join us for this event.  Attention all GenNow Students, we will have our annual parking lot fundraiser in addition to our presence at the event so we will need volunteers to supervise the distribution of permits and collecting funds from this event.  THIS WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR HIGHSCHOOL VOLUNTEER HOURS!  PLEASE SEE PASTOR AZA TO SIGN UP!

Please also note that due to numerous road closures, you may need extra time and a different route to come to church. Please visit https://millikenchurch.org/taste-of-asia/ for instructions.

Wave Reloaded Community Event – Saturday, July 13, 2024

Save The Date! Milliken will be hosting  “Wave Reloaded” on Saturday, July 13, 2024 .  This is a Community Connection Event that will be spearheaded by  our  Generation Now Group (our children, youth and young adults).
Thank you to all who signed up last Sunday! We are still looking for volunteers, especially our youth, to help and prepare for this event.   If you are interested in volunteering Our Planning team will gladly

Last week, we announced that our donation drive starts this Sunday, and we appreciate any support you can give.  Donations can be given in a few ways:

  • Submit your Donation by envelope with your full name and address or full name and envelope number.  Then write “WAVE YOUTH” in the section “Other” on your envelope, and place it in the offering basket.
  • Submit your donation to a WAVE Youth volunteer helper.  Today’s volunteer is Joshua Ngai (Encourage him to stand and wave).   He will be stationed at the sanctuary doors after service so find him and give your gift there.
  • Give your donation online at www.millikenchurch.org/give. Select the option “Other” and type in “Wave Youth” and the funds will be allocated accordingly if you would like to sign up as a volunteer.

Lead “Family” Open Invitation

As the year, unbelievably, comes to a close, we need a new round of Leading “Families” for our Family Sundays. As you might have noticed, we are looking for family units, meaning you may not have to be related by blood, but by association, also. Even if you have participated before, we welcome your participation. Please contact Pastor Stephen to let him know your availability so that we can plan for 2024.

First Series for 2024: Revitalization

We encourage our families to go further for 2024 in revitalizing our faith, our families, and our church. Visit our Revitalization Resource Page at https://millikenchurch.org/revitalization-resources/

Worship Arts Team – We Want Your Help!

Have you been looking for a way to serve?  Our Worship Arts team needs you!  We are looking for servant leaders who are willing to serve on our Sunday Morning Worship  and Audio Visual Teams.  If you have the ability to sing, play an instrument (any instrument), or would like to learn how to serve in the Sound booth to learn various skills including sound board training, video/camera operation and working with Worship Tools to present words and scripture on the screen for worship service, please see Pastor Aza or Brother Chris.

Here are 3 reasons why you should join:

  1. A place to develop your gifts and be equipped to serve.
  2. Wonderful team of believers who support each other and pray for each other.
  3. Youth Alert! If you are looking to gain credits toward your volunteer service, this is a great way for you to earn those credits!

For more information, please visit www.millikenchurch.org for details on these areas of service.

Weekday Podcast: 4:19 Fisher of People

Pastor Eddie hosts a weekday podcast called “Fisher of People”. He will be LIVE on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter every Weekday at 4:19 pm to help us focus on becoming dynamic Disciples of Jesus, and how we can lead others to follow Him. Subscribe to our YouTube channel or follow our Facebook and Twitter, and you will be notified when he goes LIVE. Tune in for his refreshing thoughts.

Prayer Requests

Our Prayer group is asking everyone who has prayer needs to put their requests in the prayer request box so that they will be remembered in our weekly prayer meeting. We are here to pray with you and for you. May the Lord encourage you to bring your requests to his alter in Jesus name.

Share Your Testimony

Sharing your experience of how God is present in your life, and the peace that you have found in Christ can encourage others to share their testimony. If you are interested in sharing your testimony during a Sunday Service, please feel free to contact Pastor Eddie or call the Milliken Church at (905) 475-3579 so that we can plan accordingly.

Tithes and Offerings

Tithes and Offerings can be submitted in person or online. If you would like to arrange a personal drop-off aside from Sundays during services, please call (905) 475-3579. Please make an appointment before a drop-off is made to ensure someone will be present to receive it. Leave a message and someone will confirm your arrangements.

For virtual offering options, you may either follow the instructions on MillikenChurch.org/e-transfer for e-transfer option, or visit us at MillikenChurch.org/GIVE for giving via PayPal. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
