MWMC This Week – Feb 4th, 2024

February 4, 2024Let’s Revitalize, Milliken!

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. -1 John 4:13-16

Midtown Wesleyan Fellowship Launch!

Midtown is the newest member of the Wesleyan Church and they will be officially launching their Church Today, February 4 at 2:00 pm. Our Church is invited to join the celebration of this new member to our Wesleyan Church family. As a result, there will be NO fellowship in the gym after service at Milliken. Their location is at the St. Cuthbert’s Church (1399 Bayview Ave, Toronto). Parking on-site is limited, we strongly recommend. Please see the attached photograph for information.

Happy Chinese New Year!

On Sunday, February 11, Milliken will celebrate Chinese New Year. We will have a special fellowship in the gym following our Sunday morning service.  In preparation for the day, on Saturday, February 10, we will be decorating the gym, and Sis. Clair Bai will lead a team who will teach how to make dumplings!  If you are available to help decorate or would like to learn how to make dumplings, please see Sis. Edna, Sis. Clair or Pastor Aza to sign up.

“Pancake Tuesday” And Lenten Mid-Week Services

Lenten Season will soon be here.   To kick start the season we will have our annual Pancake Tuesday Fellowship on Tuesday, February 13 at 6:30pm.  As is our custom, we invite you to bring your culture’s  version of “pancake”, whether they be savoury or sweet and join for time of fellowship with our community. Ash Wednesday will follow the next day on February 14.  This will officially begin the lenten season, then we will have Mid-week services every Wednesday until March 20.  We would love for as many of you who are able to take the time to come out as we spend time learning how to have a closer relationship with Jesus.

Ontario Family Day Sunday

Ontario Family Day is February 19, 2024.  To celebrate,  we will have a special Family Day service on Sunday, February 18.  This will feature our Generation Now group, which includes our children, youth and young adults.  To prepare for this day, Pastor Aza would like to meet with parents, children, youth and young adults immediately after this morning service briefly to discuss this day.

Membership Class

Membership Class will take place the first week of March, and we are opening it to members of our congregation to join the few who has already signed up. Please contact Pastor Eddie to join.

Youth Outreach Event- Saturday, July 13, 2024

Save The Date! Milliken will be hosting an Outreach event to our community on Saturday, July 13, 2024.  The purpose is to connect with the people in our community that will be spearheaded by Generation Now (our children, youth and young adults).  We will need several volunteers to help plan and prepare for this event.  Please see Pastor Aza or Pastor Eddie if you would like to sign up to help.

Lead “Family” Open Invitation

As the past year has unbelievably come to a close, we need a new round of “Leading Families” for our Family Sundays. As you might have noticed, we are looking for family units, meaning you may not have to be related by blood, but by association, also. Even if you have participated before, we welcome your participation. Please contact Pastor Stephen to let him know your availability so that we can plan for 2024.

Kitchen Renovation Fundraising Update

Thank you for everyone’s continual faithful giving toward our Kitchen Renovation Project. We have now raised an additional $1,370 toward the Project which brings the total to $9,095.00

First Series for 2024: Revitalization

We encourage our families to go further for 2024 in revitalizing our faith, our families, and our church. Visit our Revitalization Resource Page at https://millikenchurch.org/revitalization-resources/

INCOME TAX 2024 RECEIPTS

  • Our finance team would like to give a friendly reminder that anyone who would like to receive a tax receipt for their financial contributions MUST put all Cheques and Cash in an envelope with FULL NAME AND ADDRESS.
  • We have received several unlabeled envelopes and without a name and address, there is no way of knowing who has made a contribution.
  • Unlabeled envelopes go directly to the general fund so we ask you to PLEASE label your envelopes before placing them in the offering box.

Worship Arts Team – We Want Your Help!

Have you been looking for a way to serve?  Our Worship Arts team needs you!  We are looking for servant leaders who are willing to serve on our Sunday Morning Worship  and Audio Visual Teams.  If you have the ability to sing, play an instrument (any instrument), or would like to learn how to serve in the Sound booth to learn various skills including sound board training, video/camera operation and working with Worship Tools to present words and scripture on the screen for worship service, please see Pastor Aza or Brother Chris.

Here are 3 reasons why you should join:

  1. A place to develop your gifts and be equipped to serve.
  2. Wonderful team of believers who support each other and pray for each other.
  3. Youth Alert! If you are looking to gain credits toward your volunteer service, this is a great way for you to earn those credits!

For more information, please visit www.millikenchurch.org for details on these areas of service.

Weekday Podcast: 4:19 Fisher of People

Pastor Eddie hosts a weekday podcast called “Fisher of People”. He will be LIVE on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter every Weekday at 4:19 pm to help us focus on becoming dynamic Disciples of Jesus, and how we can lead others to follow Him. Subscribe to our YouTube channel or follow our Facebook and Twitter, and you will be notified when he goes LIVE. Tune in for his refreshing thoughts.

Prayer Requests

Our Prayer group is asking everyone who has prayer needs to put their requests in the prayer request box so that they will be remembered in our weekly prayer meeting. We are here to pray with you and for you. May the Lord encourage you to bring your requests to his alter in Jesus name.

Share Your Testimony

Sharing your experience of how God is present in your life, and the peace that you have found in Christ can encourage others to share their testimony. If you are interested in sharing your testimony during a Sunday Service, please feel free to contact Pastor Eddie or call the Milliken Church at (905) 475-3579 so that we can plan accordingly.

Tithes and Offerings

Tithes and Offerings can be submitted in person or online. If you would like to arrange a personal drop-off aside from Sundays during services, please call (905) 475-3579. Please make an appointment before a drop-off is made to ensure someone will be present to receive it. Leave a message and someone will confirm your arrangements.

For virtual offering options, you may either follow the instructions on MillikenChurch.org/e-transfer for e-transfer option, or visit us at MillikenChurch.org/GIVE for giving via PayPal. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
