Missionaries Ryan & Sarah Schmitz serve with Global Partners in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. They wrote recently with an update…

During the last two months we hosted four visiting mission teams, two from Ontario, one from Nova Scotia, and one from Ohio. Their combined work provided many school building improvements, school furniture, and great spiritual encouragement to many. Each team pitched in with a can-do attitude under the leadership of our Nicaraguan foreman and his construction team. God provided for each of them in ways and through people they never expected. It reminds us that all is grace.

All the teams did an incredible job of teaching English classes at two different schools, spending time in the communities, distributing practical resources such as backpacks, vitamins, and cloth baby diapers, as well as sharing in churches through song, testimony, object lessons, and prayer. The momentum this gave to us personally means a great deal.

Meanwhile, the Nicaraguan church is closing out a productive season of evangelistic campaigns, seeing many come to Christ. They filled the streets in several communities. The Bible Institute extension in Masatepe also got off to a good start with fourteen new students and two well qualified teachers. The Nicaraguan government has not officially announced any coronavirus cases, but please pray for this land and its people.

Over 35% of schools do not have running water or adequate washroom facilities. Access to clean water is a constant problem for most Nicaraguans we work with, and stores are already running low on hand gel and liquid soap. Despite our many hurdles and hard times, this ministry is more than worth it. Thank you for your giving and prayers that make this possible. Many blessings from the land of lakes and volcanoes.
