Season of Pentecost
During these weeks the Church around the world celebrates the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in our midst. He draws us in faith and transforms to become more like Jesus Christ. May you sense the Spirit’s work in and around you as we worship God today.

Nicaragua
Missionaries Ryan & Sarah Schmitz serve with Global Partners in Nicaragua. This week they wrote with an important update…
Dear Milliken Church Family,
On Monday, June 18th, our son, Abel, woke up complaining of horrible stomach pain. A trip to the local hospital quickly diagnosed appendicitis. With civil unrest, protesters, and armed activists everywhere, it was clear that we were staying in Matagalpa for the surgery. Within days, Abel was on the mend, but sadly, Nicaragua was not.
Increasing political and social pressure now required that we flee the country, heading north to avoid as much trouble as possible. Our Nicaraguan driver took us the distance and we were only stopped once by armed and masked protesters who wanted proof that we were not carrying guns or other weapons. We have now spent the past month in Honduras with a Wesleyan missionary family who have planted a church in La Ceiba, Honduras. We are not sure how or when we will get back to Nicaragua. But we ask for your prayers for the people and the churches there.
Many are under threats of violence. Squatters have even entered the schools with machetes, hoping to take advantage of the chaos. Even one of our pastors has been told to stop holding church services, or their church building will be burned down. In spite of this, our fellow Christians are very brave.
They refuse to surrender to fear, quoting the words of God to Joshua: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). Thank you for being courageous with us.
