Season of Pentecost
During these weeks the Church around the world celebrates the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in our midst. He draws us in faith and transforms to become more like Jesus Christ. May you sense the Spirit’s work in and around you as we worship God today.

Nicaragua
Missionaries Ryan & Sarah Schmitz serve with Global Partners in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. This week they wrote with an important update…
Dear Milliken Church,
Night is falling in Matagalpa, the church bells ring, but they are the only peaceful sound in the middle of police barricades, protests, roadblocks, and civil unrest now crippling daily life for over 50 days across this nation. National dialogue between the government and protesters have sputtered, lives have been lost, and daily public marches have replaced the usual happy street parties. This is not the Nicaragua we have known and loved for six years. It was not part of our plans!
However, this has also given some amazing opportunities to share the love of Jesus and demonstrate his reconciling grace to the weary people who watch helplessly. Every crisis is a new opportunity for God’s mercy to be displayed. Loving people and serving them well; talking and praying with them, and pointing them to Jesus regardless of what comes or where we are is beautiful. Whether we are in easy times or hard, wealth or poverty, oppression or freedom, our hope is in Christ – and He is the point of every mission.
Please pray that this country will seek peace, wisdom and justice. Pray for safe schools and churches, no matter what comes. Pray for families in turmoil over the social and political tensions. And pray that God continues to give us hope and energy for each daily challenge here in Matagalpa. We want to be patient, flexible and resilient as the school year has become less predictable with unexpected sporadic strikes and rallies.
We also ask for you financial assistance as our family car is reaching the end of its life. We hope to raise enough funds to replace it in the near future. Thank you for always remembering us – in your prayers and in your generous support. It is an honor to call you partners in the ministry.
Many Blessings to you!
