Sierra Leone

One of the mission efforts Milliken Church supports each month is the Alpha Program of the Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital in northern Sierra Leone. The hospital itself was founded and built in 1959 through the mission efforts of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. The hospital continues as the only inpatient medical facility in an 80 kilometer radius, serving over 600,000 people.

It is a full-service hospital with pediatrics, obstetrics, a men’s and womens medical and surgical ward, along with a busy outpatient clinic, laboratory department, and an ambulance to transport maternity and critically injured patients. Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital is fully staffed by Sierra Leonian health care workers. Two extension clinics are also governed by the Hospital; one in Gbendembu, and the other in the Kissy neighborhood of Freetown.

The hospital itself hosts the Alpha Nutrition Program for malnourished children. Through this ministry, children suffering from advanced stages of malnutrition are nursed back to health, and training is offered to families and surrounding villages in using local ingredients to provide health enriching food (and growth) for children. Many lives have been rescued through this program.

Your regular giving toward missions at Milliken Church allows us to continue to offer support. Please keep the ministry of Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital (and the Alpha Program) in your prayers. Thank you for your support.

David & Olivia Phillips are grateful for prayer and financial commitments some of you have already made to assist their work through Milliken Church. More support is needed. If you would like to give regularly toward this endeavour, please fill out an information card from the pew rack in front if you; giving your name and chosen way of giving support. Place this in the collection plate during our offering. To learn more, speak with Pastor Pryor. Thank you.

Men’s Breakfast will take place this Saturday at 8:30am. Bring a friend and join us for this meaningful gathering of men. We will share food and spiritual insights as we consider the lives of David’s royal descendants.

Adam’s Testament We will host a viewing of this Christian feature film on Friday, February 2nd at 7:15pm. Plan now to attend this award-winning and thought provoking film based on Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal Son.

Wesleyan Life The winter issues of our denominational periodical has arrived. Pick up your copy today from the table in the foyer. See how God is at work all across the continent.
