Season of Kingdomtide

During these weeks the Church around the world celebrates the coming of God’s kingdom on earth. The colour green on our altar reminds us that the Lord brings growth, health, and fullness of life to all who enter this kingdom. We pray that you will experience the fullness He offers as you worship with us today.

Burkina Faso

This week we received an exciting update from Missionaries Windell & Yolie Etienne, now beginning their service in Burkina Faso…

Dear Milliken Church Friends,

Back in 2016, the Wesleyan Church of Ghana asked me to consider serving as a long-term missionary (from Haiti) to Burkina Faso. Just two years before that I had traveled to Burkina on a short term evangelism and missions trip with my friends Edwige & Emilio. Nothing is more frustrating than feeling like you haven’t put your full potential into service for God and for humanity. Inside of me, I constantly meditated on Acts 13:36, “…when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep…” I want to serve God’s full purpose for me in my generation!

Yolie and I have now arrived to serve in Burkina Faso – praise the Lord! It is our full joy to serve the great Kingdom of God here. Being a missionary is not about self-fulfillment, but a personal faith in action for God’s reputation. God worked in the heart of Yolie to accept the heavy responsibility of coming to Burkina Faso, even in her 32nd week of pregnancy. We are happy because we feel that we are useful for something big, even though we are only two sinners under the grace and authority of the Holy Spirit.

Our task here is big, but God is bigger. Much has to be done, and we want to be faithful. Because of your prayers and generosity we are working on our adaptation to life in Africa. Here is a picture of us with our new friends. Pray for our protection and security, because we are in the midst of spiritual warfare. Stay firm in the faith. The Lord is near! Thank you for joining the team. Amen! We love You!

-Windel & Yolie Etienne-Warmly, Carrie Jo Cain
