Soup & Sandwich Lunch Today after the service, we invite you to the gym for our Mid-Winter Lunch. It will feature several wonderful soups made by our Social Committee and the sandwiches and desserts we have brought to share.
Best Years Fellowship will meet this Tuesday at 10:30am. This month’s presenter is Sonia Singh from the City of Markham. She will share important information about emergency preparedness for seniors. We will also share in our lunch potluck after the presentation.
Men’s Breakfast begins at 8:30am this Saturday morning. Men of all ages are invited to attend as we share food, life and insights from the Scriptures.
Intersection Class The third session of our Intersection class will meet next Sunday morning at 9:30am. This month Evangelist Jessica Barnett, and her husband Henry, will describe how they speak of Jesus to non-believeing friends, and how you can do the same. Come be inspired and learn how to share your faith with the people in your life.
Badminton Ministry Launch Next Sunday we will share in a time of information and commissioning of a new Outreach Ministry in our community – Badminton! Plan to stay after church for the kick-off reception. And if you are a player, bring your racket! Learn how you – and others you know – can participate in this sports ministry program very soon!
Haiti
Today we will make time to pray specifically for the churches and our mission in the Caribbean nation of Haiti. Escalating unrest in this land, over the past twelve days, has required the evacuation of our Global Partners Missionaries and volunteers now serving there.
“This is a desperate time for the citizens of Haiti, and while our hearts and prayers are with them, the situation had become unsafe, without any indication of stopping,” said Global Partners Executive Director Dennis Jackson. “After focused prayer and dialogue with the mission leadership team and local contacts, we sought and followed the counsel of our international security consultants in making this decision.
General Superintendent Wayne Schmidt is asking Christians everywhere to pray for Haiti, its political situation, its people, and all who are co-laborers for the Gospel in this land. Many neighbors and friends are heart-broken over this difficult turn of events.
“We grieve the reason for this disruption to the lives of Hatian residents, our 130 Wesleyan churches in the nation, and our team members daily give their love and service there,” said Schmidt. “Join us in praying that we can continue serving our brothers and sisters in Haiti, that God will bring peace and healing to this nation.”
