38th Anniversary Celebration in Worship

Today we rejoice in God’s faithfulness to this congregation during its 38 years of life and ministry. We thank the Lord for the privilege of being His people during many seasons of stability and change. We also anticipate a future filled with new ways to live and share the Gospel here in the Milliken community of Markham/Scarborough. Thank you for being part of our celebration today. May you experience the presence and power of the Lord as we worship Him together.

Anniversary Lunch Fellowship Today after the Morning Worship Service, we invite you to join us in the gym for lunch. Come to renew friendships or make new ones!

Remodeling Project Today in worship we will learn about our opportunity to help update and remodel the Youth Room of our church. Please listen as Trustee Cassandra D’Cruz shares. Consider what part of the project you can adopt and fund during the next three weeks! Thank you, in advance, for participating in this important project.

Halloween Supercharged will take place this Wednesday night, starting at 5pm. Children and their families may stop in for a few minutes to pick up candy, or may stay to participate in our several carnival events – and even a craft project! Pray that our community will turn out to experience the love and goodwill of our church family during this fun event.

First Friday Prayer Vigil takes place this Friday. Pick up a prayer slip at the back Sanctuary table and sign up for a 30-minute period during which you will pray for our church plants all across Ontario. Thank you.

Christmas Cards will soon be available for purchase from Gloria Pickersgill. She will sell various cards in packages of 5 (with envelopes) for $10 per package. Plan now to support this fundraiser project as you prepare for the holidays. For more information speak with Gloria today.

Family Movie Next Sunday families with children (and all who are young at heart) are invited to register and attend a showing of Joseph: King of Dreams. This animated movie tells the story of the biblical character from Genesis. Please e-mail or speak with Pastor Cymone to give your RSVP for this lunch-time event.

Sierra Leone

Each month Milliken Church provides financial support to the Alpha Program of the Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital in Sierra Leone. Missionary Geoff Cain wrote last week with an update about the Hospital itself…

Dear Milliken Church Family,

Thank you for your prayers and support of the Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital and the Alpha Project. An in depth assessment of the Alpha Project has just been completed and it is still going well. The needs of families in this region are still prevalent. The leadership at the hospital, are exploring ways to increase community outreach and health education to mitigate the issue of malnutrition.

We are praying for a doctor to be assigned to Kamakwie soon. Our medical director is in Britain on a 3-year leave of absence to continue his education. But the government hired a Nigerian doctor to assist us for the remainder of 2018. Please pray that God will again supply our need for the coming year; either through a missionary doctor or the financial support required to hire a Sierra Leonian for 2019.

During the last month a medical observer has also been on site to conduct a study on women’s health. She was amazed at the positive attitude and patient interaction that takes place here. We believe that the presence of the Lord is what makes this facility so different from the government hospitals she visits in other parts of the country. Thank the Lord. His healing and life-giving Spirit continues to help us.

Thank you, again, for your prayers and support.

– Rev. Geoff Caine, Missionary
